Part streetlight, part swing, this giraffe shaped street furniture harnesses the kinetic energy produced each time someone swings back and forth on its seat to power a super-efficient LED light. And while this juiced up version of the front-porch swing could easily appeal to adults, we can’t see kids passing up a chance to take a ride on the Giraffe at their local park. As a backup to the kinetic energy supplied by people, the Giraffe uses an elevated solar panel hood to soak up the solar variety, storing it in a battery for later use.
